Format, a website-building platform that competes with the likes of Squarespace, has announced Workflow: a new suite of tools designed to help professional photographers run their businesses. Additionally, in support of the struggling industry due to COVID-19, a Pro account is free for the first year.

Format says that Workflow’s user-friendly tools are designed to make it easy for photographers to impress clients with visually appealing, password-protected galleries for collaboration and proofing. The addition of this feature expands Format’s competitive viability against options from Zenfolio, Smugmug, Pixiset, and others.

Workflow supports branded file transfers up to 10GB, has sharable galleries housing unlimited numbers of images, and the Format says the system can assist organization through contacts management, labels, and project notes. Additionally, Workflow integrates seamlessly into Format’s current platform making it easy to add for existing customers.

Workflow’s pricing is broken down into three tiers. The Pro tier is $12 a month if billed annually or $17 a month billed monthly and supports 1,500 total images in proofing galleries, all themes, Lightroom and Capture One integration, unlimited blog posts with unlimited images, a free domain name for a year, and custom code editing. It also provides an online store with up to three products (commission free), one chapter of a Photography Business Masterclass, and social media integration.

For $18 a month billed annually (or $26 billed monthly), Workflow’s Pro Plus plan –which is marketed as the “most popular” and has many features most photography businesses would need — expands to support unlimited images, can host video, grants the full Photography Business Masterclass, bumps the online store to 60 products, and adds the Format Build Service where Format experts build a website for you for free.

The Unlimited Plan is marketed to “established businesses” and costs $25 a month billed annually ($33 per month billed monthly) and expands hosted video length to 120 minutes, adds professional email from Google for free, and beefs up the online store feature to 1,000 products.

As mentioned, Format is offering a year of Pro membership access to Workflow to help mitigate the financial impact that the photography industry has suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic for those who register before the end of March.
