The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has been hailed as an excellent deal since its release, offering everything that’s great about the original Galaxy S20, but at a much lower price. At $700, the phone has been the go-to for those that want a near-flagship phone without the flagship price tag. Now, in what could be one of the best Black Friday deals around, the Galaxy S20 FE is even cheaper — at only $550 from Amazon.

Let me be clear — the Galaxy S20 FE would be an incredible deal even without the discount. It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor that powers most Android flagships for the year, along with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. In other words, the phone can compete with the best of the best phones out there, in terms of raw performance.

But it goes beyond raw performance too — it has some truly high-end features. While the display has a slightly low 1080p resolution, it has an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, which makes animations smooth and ensures the display is very responsive. I would argue that the high refresh rate is more important than a higher resolution, especially if the display is 1080p anyway.

The Galaxy S20 FE is a great phone even without a discount.

On the back of the phone, you’ll get a triple-lens camera, with a main 12-megapixel camera, an 8MP camera with a telephoto lens, and a 12MP camera with an ultrawide lens. Honestly, this is my favorite combination on a triple-lens camera — some modern phones mess around with macro lenses, but I find that in day-to-day use, having both an ultrawide lens and a telephoto lens makes the camera versatile and usable in any situation. It’s not just versatile — the quality of the camera is solid too.

You might notice that the phone also supports 5G, and while we don’t recommend buying a phone because it has 5G, it is an added bonus. 5G networks are rolling out around the country. They don’t change the game yet — but as they get better and continue to roll out over the next few years, you’re going to want to be able to use them.

The only potential downside to the phone is One UI, but that comes down to personal preference rather than anything else. One UI on the Galaxy S20 FE is smooth and quick, and while it does bring a little bloatware and unnecessary apps, and certainly isn’t as stripped-back as Android is on the Pixel series, it does win in customizability. You can make it be whatever type of tool you need.

Ultimately, if you’re in the market for a high-end Android phone, the Galaxy S20 FE at $550 is easy to recommend. The phone is a solid option at a much higher price, but at $550, it really can’t be beat.
